09-10-2012, 04:26 AM #1Any fix for bricked new 3GS after iPad BB upgrade?
Hi, been given a bricked 3GS to fix for a friend, turns out he's tried to upgrade to the iPad baseband and it's a late model (April 2012) so it's now a fancy paperweight.
I suspect I know the answer to this, but is there any fix for this at the moment?
Assuming not, does anyone know if a fix is being worked on?

It's bricked for good. Sorry for the misfortune.

Figured as much. That'll teach him to attempt a JB when he knows nothing about it! Annoying thing is, I offered to do it, but the knowitall declined!
Thanks for the reply.

It's not the jailbreak that bricked his phone. It's installing the iPad baseband did it. Certain phones can use it and others well this happens to them if ya not carefull and know what ya doing.

Well that's quite an expensive lesson to be learned...I'm sure he will be more cautious next time.

Lesson learnt? Doubt it. I gave him back his shiney brick last night, whereupon he announced he was going into the Apple Store to buy the new iPhone 5 and was going to Jailbreak and unlock it himself using Absinthe. I tried to explain slight flaws in this plan but he didn't listen. Scary thing is, as and when he does get a 5 I suspect he'll screw it up somehow.
Some people never learn from their mistakes. No matter how costly they are.

Oh no...just tell him to get it factory unlocked. Nowadays on eBay people unlock it for cheap. If he's interested blkcadi has a good seller she uses.
Anyhow, I bid him good luck on his jailbreak and unlock lol. Perhaps ask him to come by MMi first? I'm concerned for him lol.

Incredibly this story ends well, and with a huge big up to Apple.
He went into the local Apple store to buy a 5. Obviously no dice, so he bought a 4s. Incredibly he mentioned his woes with the 3S, he had it with him, they took a look, he claims he told them EXACTLY what had happened, they checked the serial number, said it was still in warranty and gave him a new one, saying he should be able to sell it to help cover the cost of the 4s. He's just dropped it off asking me to EBay it for him.
I've no idea what conversation really took place in the store, but knowing him he probably really did tell them he broke it himself trying to JB it (he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer!) so fair play to Apple.

Got lucky (if he told the truth). Some reps are cool about replacing devices under warranty.

Does somebody know, how to repair the 06.15.00 BB? I have an iphone 3GS week 21 2010. I bought the phone used with intentions of repairing it. It is the new BR and it does not have BT or Wifi. But sometimes, when it restarts itself I have WIFI AND BT. But although the numbers of my Wifi and BT appear in About. They do not work. What should I do? Thanks to anyone who can help!

Downgrade the baseband to 5.13.04 with redsn0w.

I have tried downgrading, but it always goes into "Activation" or "Installing bundles" it restarts and nothing has happened. There is no message of "Flashing baseband"... Nothing is happening to it.

Try a different computer. I have had to change computers before when a bb flash does not work properly.

I will try it! Thank you very much! I will reply as soon as I do it...
I just did it, but it did not work. It is just in the "Installing Bundles" stage... I do not know what to do.

Make sure you are using the right ipsw for your device and make sure you are using the latest version of redsn0w. You can get it by searching "dev team" in google. It is the first link.
If Redsn0w does not auto detect your fw version to manually input the ipsw. The ipsw you downoad must match the fw version the device is currently on.
It is best for the device to be on 4.1 or 4.2.1 to flash the bb. If it is not on either, downgrade to 4.1 then tey the process again.

I am currently on 5.1.1, I will then downgrade to see what happens. It always recognises the FW im in. I will use the later version of Redsn0w then. Thank you.
Bugeyewrx: I am currently using a mac. I do not know what happens. Did you do anything to your iphone in order to downgrade it? Thank you for your advice.
