Should I Jailbreak/Unlock? [3GS]

I have been a long time iPhone user. I personally have a iPhone 4 but recently obtained a 3GS from someone that owed me money. I would like to just sell it. It is an AT&T phone but has no SIM.

First off, can I Jailbreak or Unlock without a SIM card? Second, will Unlocking and/or Jailbreaking be good for my sale or should I just leave it as is?

It can be jailbroken and Hacktivated without an official SIM, it will make it worth a few more dollars if you sell it jailbroken and unlocked. If the buyer wants it stock, just restore it.

Sorry, I am not familiar with "hacktivate".
