Default Change Icon Label Color Without WinterBoard
    Hello,
I am running 4.2.1 on an ipod touch 2g MB. I am using bosspaper to set homescreen wallpaper, because for some reason it is way faster than native wallpaper. However, the icon labels are gray. I would like to change the color without winterboard. Also, is it possible to change the homescreen status bar from black to transparent? I am ok using another substrate as long as it is lighter than winterboard, but if it's possible without a substrate that would be better. Is this possible?

You can use Springtomize to change the label colors. Not sure about the status bar

It appears to only be a springtomize 2 feature, but since my ipod is stuck on ios4, it won't work. Any other ideas?

There's something on Cydia called "Icon Label Colors".

If you want to change the label color, I believe you're going to need a mobile substrate program, as something like a label color would be buried in a plist somewhere, and typically a dev doesn't want their program on Cydia to be destructive and/ or irreversible.

You can't change your homescreen status bar transparent without WinterBoard. Well, technically you can, but you'll need to create a new Shared.artwork file to replace your current one. But that's another whole can of worms.

Hmm..I'm surprised that there isn't a standalone tweak to do this, because winterboard is bloated with crap I don't need

Just because I'm curious, what key do I need to change to in an app's info plist to change the label color?

The status bar, maybe I'll look into the shared artwork and see what I can find
