Just a confirmation...
Ok I left the jailbreak scene right after 5.0.1 was released, and have not been back or reading twitter and stuff like that. I am looking to do a fresh restore and then rejailbreak.
I am not a noob, I am familiar with jailbreaking, just not with 5.0+
iPhone 4
I am on 5.0.1
I have my SHSH blobs
I have tinyumbrella
So what I just need to know, is if it is the same restore process as it was with 4.x.x? Or if there is something special that I need to do to stay on 5.0.1

well if you have shsh blobs for 5.0.1 then you can easily restore and do a fresh start at 5.0.1..
just create a custom firmware of 5.0.1 to prevent updating your baseband
then run redsn0w to fetch your shsh blobs and stitch the 5.0.1 blobs to the custom firmware (this is all done via redsn0w)
then put phone in DFU mode and restore via itunes (point itunes to the custom firmware that was stitched from redsn0w, not the one created via sn0wbreeze)
because the firmware is "stitched" to the blobs you DONT have to run tinyumbrella to restore

You need to use redsnow to put it in pwned DFU mode. Otherwise iTunes will error out. Otherwise the guide is as 6thDAY said

Ok, so I keep getting error 37 and then 1600 after i just try again... If I use redsn0w or iFaith for a pwned DFU, I get the 37... If I just retry without the pwned DFU I get the 1600...
I'm doing this with my iPod touch 4th generation for right now, just to make sure that I can get it right my iPhone...
Any ideas?

Well, for iFaith to actually do it's job, you have to have saved and stitched your SHSH blobs to the IPSW. Did you do that?
By the way, Here's what those errors mean:
Error 1600, 1601, 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
So basically, try a new USB port.

Yes for both of the IPSW's that I used both of them had been stitched with their respective jailbreaking/IPSW saving program.
I don't know how, but I finally got the iPod to restore... But here is the catch, when it turns off now, it returns to DFU mode... I've tried everything that I know how to do but nothing... It is restored and jailbroken.

Odd. SHSH blobs were attatched to the IPSW right?
