iPhone 3GS iOS V5.1 won't connect with iTunes etc

Just the past 3 days my iPhone does not show up in iTunes and can no longer sync. Also, I am getting the Silent icon by battery, my switch is not on mute.

Today I opened iTunes and plugged in iPhone and it started to connect but then disappeared in iTunes. So, I can no longer sync

And the Mute thing is driving me crazy, I have vibrate off. I am wondering if it is a setting with sbsettings or something. Please help

Try a different usb cable and or pc. Could be a cable or usb port issue.

Yeah..sounds like some sort of HW issue...make sure connector in the phone is clean too...

Terribly sorry, I forgot to post I tried 3 cables and 2 macs. However, I think I might have solved it, but if I did I'll try and post back with inf.

If that doesn't work... Try putting it in DFU or recovery and restoring.
