Can changing the permissions of the mobile folder hurt you iPhone?

This may be in the wrong section, but I just have a quick question. I changed my mobile folder permissions to 777 to try to get my gpSPhone emulator working (having trouble with it) and I want to know if it can damage anything in my iPhone... call me particular but that's how I am
