Stuck on restoring my old iphone 4

To make a long story short I need to get back into my iPhone 4 because I broke my 4s. Problem is I threw it into a box as soon as I got my 4s and I don't remember my pass code to get back into the phone. I don't have the laptop I always synced my music to because I went to a desktop. I have all my contacts and music saved on my desktop so reformatting the phone is no big deal. Itunes just wont let me. I get error 3194 and have tried multiple ways to try and fix it. I also have tried holding shift and clicking restore but I am not sure what firmware I was running. Itunes just says "firmware is not compatible". What are my options?

Run tiny umbrella , uncheck set hosts file to cydia and close it. Now restore again to stock 5.0.1.

Tried this with no success. Tiny umbrella does not even recognize the phone since its locked. The only thing I can get from it is some numbers where it usually would show the name of my phone.
