My 3GS on 5.0.1 just started to randomly reboot every 5 minutes or so. I put it in DFU mode to do a restore and now it won't restore lol.

Restoring with a CFW? If not, then no need to go through DFU mode.

I'm not using a cfw, I just prefer dfu to a normal restore. In iTunes it just hangs at the "preparing iphone for restore" then I get error code 1601

also, why would it say that its not plugged into a usb 2.0 port when it tries to recover? it shows that message in the taskbar, then shows up with either error 1600 or 1601
