iMessage and phone number ????

How do I asscociate my phone number ONLY with iMessage? I have my number checked in the "caller ID" screen but it appears that it shows up on my friends phone under my email address?

And I can't delete the email addres---its greyed out. Can i get rid of all email addresses so that my phone number is the only thing showing when I send to people?

You probably can't delete the email address because iMessage is tied to your apple id and account, this allows anyone with wifi and an i product to use it. As far as your friend's device showing your email, that may have something to do with how he has you stored in his/her contacts. What devices are yall using?

Thanks thanks. I told him earlier it may have to do with his settings/contacts in his phone BUT I also think he mentioned that he has received imessage from me with phone number and email separately.

He just upgrades his iphone4 to OS5 and jailbroken. I have the 4S running OS5
