3gs running 5.0.1 - what's the best jailbreak out there for it?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I don't like beating dead horses.
I am really new to the whole Iphone thing and am hoping someone can help me out...

I have a 3GS running iOS 5.0.1 with what I believe an old bootrom (serial #xx937), modem firmware is 05.16.05
and would like to jailbreak it. The PO restored it as new, so not sure if it has any previous blobs. Wouldn't know how to check for that stuff really.
Can someone post a link to a good place to get my jailbreak?
Easiest would be nice. Step-by-step instructions are a plus... since I am so new to all of this.
If you can, can you please use layman's terms lol I am not very tech savvy and trying to learn as I go.
And definitely don't want to brick my phone.

Download and run the latest TinyUmbrella, run as administrator. Plug phone in, on left side click on ur phone, click on save shsh on right side, on advanced tab check the request shsh from Cydia check box, click save shsh again. Go to log tab and see what shsh it saved and let us know, we'll go from there...

For most jb, redsn0w is good..

If u end up with 4.3.3 blobs, I would downgrade to that, or 4.2.1...5.0.1 is ok on 3GS but jb is tethered, and it's a bit of a memory and storage hog I think...I was on it for about a day..didn't like it too much..it doesn't give a 3GS anything u can't get from jb and jb tweaks..

Oh u said old bootrom...I missed that..if that's so, u can be untethered on 5.0.1 jb w redsnow... But look for shsh blobs w tu first...

I got lost after this bit, mainly because all the boxes were already checked and not sure if I should uncheck them all except request shsh from Cydia check box (which I am assuming that is what you meant) or not. But me being so new to this, not sure what I am doing and the big bold letters at the top stating not to try/mess with this unless you know what you are doing scared me off until I get more information ... lol, yea I know I am probably a little too cautious, but it seems like it would be so easy to mess anything up on these and/or brick them.
Also looked up redsn0w jb's and looks like the 0.9.9b8 is the one I'll need... unless I am wrong (which is very possible).
Like I said, this is a whole new ball game for me - trying to learn as I go.

If you're sure you have an old bootrom, I'd just restore to stock ios 5.0.1 then jailbreak it. (Old bootrom 3gs's are untethered on ios 5)
