Available Space--Who is right?

My iPhone shows that I have 2.2gb available. In iTunes, I show 5.4gb free. Which is correct? I have been getting low storage space warnings on the phone even though I haven't added anything!

I just removed a lot of music and some old photos. I feel that I should have about 5gb available--as it states in iTunes. Why is my phone showing less?

Have you tried hard rebooting by holding the sleep and home button for 10 seconds?
