I'm the proud owner of a new unlocked, jailbroken, activated phone (1.1.3) and am enjoying it very much (and have learned lots from this board!)

The ONLY issue I am having is what other people are reporting -- no EDGE access.

When I try to connect in Safari I get the "Can't find server/You're not an EDGE subscriber" message that others report.

I have (many times) reset the network/all settings using both the native and Boss Pref apps. Still no EDGE menu for accessing/editing APN, etc.

I do have the EDGE symbol on the phone, so it's clearly seeing it, it just won't connect.

I've spent the last two days on this site and others, and have tried every fix that has been posted using SSH, etc.

I am on an old blue ATTWS family plan. I'd prefer not to have to upgrade (with the attendant 2 year contract!). I don't know if that makes a difference, but when I have that SIM in my Treo, I can connect to GPRS/EDGE just fine.

(My current plan has unlimited data for $45 -- and they don't offer that anymore).

So, thoughts:

1. Should I suck it up and get my plan upgraded, take whatever 3G phone they give me for free and hope that the new SIM will fix the problem (and I'll have to add a $65!!! 5GB data plan )

2. Should I upgrade to 1.1.4 and then re-jailbreak with Ziphone?

3. Other thoughts?

(Btw, there is an EDGE-fix package in installer.app, but it's only for much earlier versions of the phone).

Any and all help would be appreciated!

I got EDGE working!

Copy the following file to
root/system/library/Carrier Bundles/ATT_US.bundle/carrier.plist, replacing the one that is there.
After copying the file, do a Settings/Restore Network Settings.
This restored EDGE and added an editable EDGE settings to the Network Settings menu.

NOTE NOTE: This worked on a on old, blue ATT SIM for an ATTWS account with an add-on data plan to the line. I do not know if it will work for those on Cingular or (new) ATT plans.
