How to skip activation on iPhone 4 iOS5

Hey guys, need a little help.
Friend accidently updated iPhone 4 to os5 and Since the baseband wasn't preserved, I know that you can't unlock. But I want to at least be able to use the phone. Is that possible?
to skip the whole activation of the phone?

I've done that like 5 times, but it takes me back to the whole iOS5 welcome screen.

Oh yeah forgot about the new welcome screen. Huh...so you can't go through all the welcome screen prompts and then go straight to the springboard?

Sorry I have Verizon so I haven't gotten the chance to see much with iOS 5 on GSM.

You can either borrow someone's AT&T sim for the 5 min activation, take it to a local wireless resale shop, my local one activated mine free as I had the same issue. However I wanted to them jailbreak it who h undid my activation so I used reds now. The latest version activates it as well. I activated with. I sim in it at all then got the iOS 5 tethered jail real.

That's supposed to say jailbreak not jail real hAha autocorrect.
