Default Used 3g... old account... no password... can I reset?

Good morning... If this has already been addressed, please feel free to send a link. The search page isn't coming up for me.

    I purchased a used unlocked/jailbroken 3g (Firmware 05.13.04)

I tried to download an app to my phone and it asked for the previous owners password. I have synced the phone with my computer (which shows all my account info), but when I try to access the account info on the phone, it isn't mine... What are my options? Can I just delete the old account on the phone? Or do I need to do a full reset? I guess I could email the person who sold me the phone, but I know I wouldn't give anyone my password!!!

    Thanks so much in advance.

    Bob

two options i can think of:

1- ask the seller to de-authorize their accounts, then authorize the phone with your iTunes info
2- do a Restore. if you choose this option you may want to restore with a custom f/w to preserve the BB,
if you need to unlock the phone you must use the iPad BB, as yours cannot be unlocked

iTunes should have let you set up as a new device. surprised this didnt make the changes

another thought, sign out of iTunes from the iPhone. look in settings/store
then click on the Apple ID and sign out, then sign in with your info
