HELP! My gf's iPhone 3g wont power on... weird one though.

Hello, she went to the app store to update her facebook and the phone froze and it was thinking (in the middle of the screen) for ages and I told her to hold the home and power button to shut it down and then start it back up. It shut down now it's stuck on the recovery screen.

Tinyumbrella will not get it out of recovery apparently when it's not plugged in it's just a black screen... she's in Liverpool at the moment so I can't take the phone of her to have a look but she's adamant it's not been dropped or anything, it just froze whilst on the app store.

Any help would really be appreciated.

if itunes detects it then try restoring
if not then try putting it in DFU mode for itunes to recognize it -> DFU mode > power + home when the screen goes black count 3 seconds and release the power keep holding the home button until itunes pops up (should be another 5 seconds after)
if that doesnt work i believe its a hardware issue
