OK i got an iPhone 2G off my cousin the other day, and I have no history of it in FW or anything, It is in good physical shape, no scratches or anything.
But the problem is I cant restore the damn thing, its at the connect to itunes screen, no slider. When I shift+restore it with a stock 3.1.3 IPSW it fudges around unpacking the FW and reboot the phone to the same screen, then it tires to reboot the phone to what I would guess as DFU. On the first reboot the connect to itunes shows then an apple logo with the pinwheel for 1/2 a second then it craps out, rebooting back to square one. then iTunes throws the error of 1611. Ive read this is a firmware detectoion issue.
Other notes are the battery aint too good. when you unplug it from the charger it dies immemdiatly, same when it tries to reboot into DFU/iTunes funky restore mode. I dont think its been charged in the past half million years. I dont know if it is the battery at fault here.
So whats the soloution? Im gonna leave it laid up on the charger for 24 hours now switched off, we'll see if we can revive the battery. That thing is well dead man
