How can I make my iPhone function without lagging?

This is an iPhone 3G
It's original firmware version was 2.0
Right now it's 4.2.1
My assumption is that because I've upgraded it so much, it lags a lot. No apps work smoothly.

Try using fake clock up on you will have to add a repo to Cydia the repo is cydia.pushfix.info makes all devices faster by deleting the animations

4.2.1 on a 3G will never be speedy. It's limited memory is easily overloaded with even a few tweaks and apps. Many users who tried 4.2.1 gave up and downloaded back to 3.1.3 for better performance.
