which redsnow version to run
I have a 3gs running 4.3.3 and it is jailbroken with jailbreakme.com. I am having a problem with cydia and it was suggested that I run redsnow and just load cydia.. I have redsnow 09.6rc16 and when I run it all goes well until it starts running and it says "waiting for iphone 4, then it starts to run and goes about 99% and then freezes. Pretty soon the phone turns back on and nothing has changed with cydia.. Am I running the wrong version of redsnow? I also have version 0.9.4 on my desktop. should I use that or is there a different version?

Correct. I see no reason to restore. Just run redsn0w (rc19) over your original jailbreak and you should be ok.
Make sure that once everything goes ok that you install the "pdf patch 2" tweak from cydia. This will then close off the security exploit and still allow you to be jailbroken

Jailbreakme uses a different stashing method then redsn0w.. U can't apply both of em with each other . Jailbreaking with jailbreakme is very fast coz of the new method . So if u wanna rejailbreak using redsn0w u gotta restore ..

JailbreakMe also uses unionfs with a different version of Cydia. For best results, I wouldn't intermix different jailbreaks.

I agree with the both of yall that a restore would be recommended but I found this and it made me wonder that theoretically it was possible.
Can I run redsn0w over Jailbreakme 3.0? - JBQA
Guess I spoke too soon. Good catch there

Ok, now I are confused..LOL.. Are you saying that I should just run jailbreakme again? That I SHOULD NOT run redsnow and install cydia only?

No what they are saying and I agree to this is to restore your device and then jailbreak with redsn0w.
I thought you could run a jailbreak over a jailbreak and technically you probably can but its gonna have some real messy results and may cause more harm than good so its best to just restore and jailbreak with redsn0w.
