Options for repairing / replacing cracked Verizon iPhone 4 screen?
I wanted to create a new thread in order to get the most current information... my son just dropped my wife's Verizon iPhone 4 and cracked the front glass. She's not even able to use that area of the touchscreen where it's cracked. Any inexpensive repair/replacement options?
Take it to Apple and see if you get lucky for them to fix it Worst case scenario they refuse.
If Apple won't fix it, which I hate to say it but its likely they won't (but not impossible), you can try to replace it yourself or have some repair shop do it for you.
For the parts and if you DIY it shouldn't cost you more than $40-$50 including tools. But you should be careful, I believe on an iPhone 4 you'd have to disassemble the entire device to replace the glass. If the LCD is damaged then it'll likely cost more. Watch lots of YouTube videos and know it by heart before attempting, one mistake can screw up a lot. Problem is...your warranty is going to get void. Apple knows when a device has been opened up.
If you choose to take it to a repair shop, check out how much they want to charge for the parts and labor. If you get parts from them, a reasonable price to be charged in total is probably $70-$85 IMO. If you get your own parts then I'd say the labor shouldn't cost more than $20-$40. That's how much I myself would charge but maybe shops charge a tad more.
Edit: last paragraph above, that's glass only. If LCD needs replacing that also extra cost for the part so probably $15-$30 more for glass+LCD
