Default Can I update my iPhone version to a firmware if Apple stops signing it?

I know that people save SHSH blobs to downgrade firmwares if they accidentally updated but my question is let's say I have a 4.0.1 firmware iPhone 4 and Apple releases a new firmware with new baseband and ultrasn0w can't unlock it, would I be able to update to 4.3.3 from 4.0.1 when there's a newer firmware then 4.3.3?

If you have the SHSH saved for 4.3.3 then you can. But after 5.0 there will be a block for SHSH for the moment. Apple implemented a new system in 5.0.

But if you have the 4.3.3 SHSH blob then you can still go to that.

Note: The baseband can not be downgraded even with saved SHSH blobs, only the iOS firmware version.

Yes. As stated earlier as long as you have your SHSH blobs saved then you can update to 4.3.3.

Sorry to sound like a noob but how do I save 4.3.3 SHSH blobs if I'm on 4.0.1?

Tiny Umbrella The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella It will save what is available. iFaith will create SHSH blobs for the current running version (if TU doesn't find it already)

+1. Since Apple is no longer signing any other firmwares the only firmware you will be allowed to restore/update to is 4.3.3 once Tiny Umbrella saves your SHSH blobs. iFaith does everything else

True ... unless Cydia had already saved them (or you got lucky ).

. Believe it or not, I're read a couple posts of people who just purchased a new phone (not refurbished) and TU/Cydia reported saved SHSH blobs for an old version or two. The new owner was very lucky .

Yeah TU will currently only save 4.3.4 as the window for 4.3.3 closed a couple days ago...I had similar luck with this brand new replacement 3GS I have now..it was swapped right after 4.3.1 came out. It came with 4.2.1. I ran TU and it found blobs for 4.1! Apple store girl assured me it was brand new and not a refurb....I dunno. Go figure..

I tried something similar just going from 4.1 to 4.3 I downloaded from modmyi (before 4.3.4) I have shah blobs back to 4.1 unfortunately apple is checking your baseband now too so if they changed the baseband then no however nothing I'm aware of beside a PDF patch to stop jailbreak me was added so you should be ok...
