Default Where to Purchase factory unlocked iPhone 4

I want to buy a 32gb iPhone 4 and think I would prefer to get a factory unlocked unit this time. Lots of crap around and not much in the way of solid information....so will hope to get some answers here.

    1. Can you buy an unlocked unit from an Apple Store in U.S.?
    2. They are all over the place on Ebay and make no sense as to price. There is a seller now that has 10 units for a "buy it now" price of %501. USD. He is rated a 100% seller with lots of ratings. This is about $200.+ lower than the auctions for a similar unit. Makes no sense.

    3. Most important....what does one have to worry about in buying? What are the questions and what are the scams?

    Confused.

Where are you located? You can get it in Apple Store here in Canada. Do you have friends or connections that can get it in Canada?

I am in Seattle. I am not yet convinced that the unlocked phones are not available at the Apple stores. They are not available on-line from Apple but an employee has told me the unlocked phone can be purchased at the physical store.
I would really like to avoid the problems encountered by buying from Ebay, Craigs list, etc.

In the US all iPhones are locked. The only retail store to get a factory unlocked is...well not in the US

I am in vancouver and all the iphone 4 phones are unlocked if you purchase it at the physical store, they will just ask you which provider you are with just say bell, fido, rogers etc.. The closest store to seattle would prob richmond or coquitlam.

So it's $682 (US) for an unlocked iPhone if bought in Canada.

Actually, the Canadian dollar is higher ($1.03 today I think) so the price in USD would be higher than the Canadian.

Does anyone know how the warranty works with the phone purchased in Canada?
Can you take it to a U.S. Apple store for warranty if problems come up? This could be a big block if it has to go back to Canada.
