If they see that it has the ipad baseband on it your warranty will be voided. Although if you are in restore mode or white screen they wont be able to tell.

yeah im in black screen theres no way they can see the baseband unless they somehow get it to restore.. What should i tell them?

im on my way to my appointment.. what should i say? just that i couldn't restore it?

Okay Simon they have me a new 3gs thats on 4.2.1, should I just update to 4.3.3 and just use redsn0w rc15 and choose install baseband first. install that, then install cydia?

Well you have 2 choices.

Stay on 4.2.1. Use redsnow to install the ipad baseband. Then use greenpoison rc6.1 to jailbreak and install cydia.

or

Update to 4.3.3 and use redsnow 0.9.6rc15 to install the ipad baseband. Then run it again to install cydia. Do them separately because redsnow will crash if you try to do both at the same time.

you can be untethered and unlocked on either firmware following what I just said.

redsnow rc12 was released to untether 4.3.1. There was never a redsnow release to untether 4.2.1 (except a beta 0.9.7 one with a different exploit altogether) Greenpoison took care of 4.2.1. Just a FYI so you know why I suggested what I did
