Can iPhone 4 be used as a stand alone "iPod?"
Just curious...if someone cancels their service with AT&T can they still use their iPhone 4 for everything else (besides mobile of course) like the iPod does? If the answer is yes, I'm assuming the device would have to be jailbroken in order to do so?

No it doesn't have to be jailbroken at all. You can do it.

I thought the phone would require activation?

As in my AT&T sim? Wait a sec if the phone is restored it would require activation again. I assume you are referring to just continuing to use the device after the service is cancelled without doing a restore?

Oh wow, I could have sworn with previous iPhones if you restored the phone and didn't have an authorized carrier or wanted to use the phone as an iPod Touch only, that you had to jailbreak it to bypass the activation process. But I guess someone like you who has almost 10K in posts, that you know what you are talking about!
