How can I kill my iphone 4
May sound like a daft question BUT how can I kill my iphone 4 and make it look like its a fault? Not water damage. I literally want to kill my iphone 4. I want to be able to take it to apple and for them not to be able to switch it on, even if they change the battery. What I am after is getting my iphone 4 exchanged for a new one. There must be a way! Thanks, any help with this will be very much appreciated. Thanks

Funny request .... but ... The power button control circuitry is at the lowest level - likely before bootrom. Difficult (if even possible) to modify. How about Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings? This usually leaves a jb'n phone in a very bad state requiring a restore (haha). Warning: Don't do this unless you really want to mess up your phone

Yes, I want to screw up my iphone to such an extent that apple wont be able to fix it and then will replace it believing it to be a faulty iphone. Now all I need is instructions. Im off to work now but will reply when I get in tonight. OR I can be emailled at [email protected]. Thanks

^As I mentioned, there are NO instructions to do what you want.
Have you tried a hammer, microwave, or super glue?Last edited by Mes; 05-03-2011 at 09:10 AM.

Ok, thanks! What about a strong magnetic current? Would that screw it up? Must be something I can do to kill an iphone and make it look like a fault?

Since you're set on killing it .... go for it. Most people are trying to fix their phones (hahaha) .... so your situation never comes up.

This begs the question, what's wrong with your Iphone to begin with that you want to "kill' it?

keep dropping it over and over with a case on, the jolt will break something inside eventually.

i find the best way when i want it replacing
take the back pannel off, and at the top of the phone is the power button switch, its secured via a small screw, loosen this and the switch will go flush with the phone, making it not power on. apple replace this everytime

Wow this thread = morals out the window.
Whats worng with your phone to even want to do this? You have a scratch on you screen because you were stupid and through your keys in your pocket? Now you have a scratch and it doesnt look pretty and new?
Fail!

^Darn .... learn something every day
. How to break it. Not something I would embrace because it borders on dishonesty, scams, theft, and the like.

lol I know when I JB my phone and erased all settings etc. it totally screwed my phone up into a never-ending repeat loop.
It was hell to get a restore going on a older firmware, but they might be able to resolve it with the latest firmware restore, iono try it xD
I would also say maybe open it up and screw something up but they may be able to detect tampering through stickers and what not so be careful :P

Hmmmmmmmmmm, so your asking the forum on how to screw Apple for a mistake you made. Man up buddy and take responsibility for your mistake, pay someone to repair it for you and I feel certain you will feel better about your self.

Probably wants to get a new one to sell so it can be claimed as basically new. If not then yeah I agree blkcadi.
Either way it's silly.
