^^First thing: Everything is gone on the iPhone. Wiped clean by the restore.
Now .... maybe, just maybe, there is something on your computer. But let me be clear, it is unlikely because a sync generally overwrites older backups. Catch-22
If by some miracle, an old backup exists (the key here is OLD) ... there are a couple programs on the web that can extract data (including pictures) from an iTunes backup. I've never used them, but the extraction process is simple enough. It might be worth looking into it ...
To get started, check iTunes advanced / devices for dates and times of any stored backups.
My love/hate Apple relationship continues

^Yes. Without a computer backup you're hosed

Can't tell you how many times this has happened to me. For half my life
or more.
Finally got smart and realized the importance of backups. Not just one, and not with only one program or utility, but multiple backups from multiple utilities to multiple destinations on various dates. I WILL have a backup. It may not be the latest but I won't loose everything

well..if it had worked propertly there would be a backup
it was whatever damn update crap it decided to do yesterday that just screwed up everything.
i cant even begin to explain how devestated i am over this... and ths things i lost ath i will never ever get back
i cant beleive apple hasnt come up with a better way to bring back files accidently lost
especially when it has to do with the damn updates

^Most programs / utilities work reasonably well .... when they work.
It's when they don't that the real problems come to light. It's where 'we the consumer' are left holding the bag.
It's never to late to start. Use a USB flash drive to copy and save iPhone pictures. Simple, sweet and effective.
Good luck. Send a complaint to Apple. iTunes could easily maintain multiple backups. The squeaky wheel gets the geese

I am assuming pictures is your biggest loss. Were you not syncing those same pics with iTunes? I am not talking about the backup that was lost, but the ability to sync pictures to your computer.
It only takes a few seconds, but if I helped you, say thanks!
