Default Backup / transfer .deb's without PkgBackup?

Hey guys. So I've been trying to find a way to manually transfer my .deb files from my iPhone to the computer for backups (actually I want to add them to a custom fw using sn0wbreeze). I've been trying to ask people on twitter with no luck. I don't want to have to purchase PkgBackup, so I was wondering is there a way to manually recover the .deb files via SSH?

I read that Cydia stores the .deb files in "/private/var/cache/apt/archives" - but it only stores them temporarily when it first downloads, so people say just to download the app, refresh that directory and copy the .deb. Is this the only place the .deb gets stored? I don't want to have to reinstall ALL my Cydia apps then transfer them, because it'll take a while and may do damage reinstalling a lot of apps. Also I tried Cyder 2 but it just says 'file error' when I try to pull the sources/apps from Cydia. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

To my knowledge that would be the only way of transfering those deb's. Otherwise, imagine that all the deb files were stored permanently on your iDevice, it would take unnecessary space.
It only takes a few seconds, but if I helped you, say thanks!

Ah yeh I guess it would take up space. I thought they got stored on the iDevice for later deleting purposes. Because when you delete an app from Cydia, it says like "removing xx.deb" - so I just assumed it stored them!
