Default iPhone won't sync contacts, why?

I plug it in, and get this message:

"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone "iPhone" because the iPhone disconnected"

    what's up with this?

    None of that is working.

In iTunes, I don't even have an option to sync my address book...which seems weird.

I'm on a Mac, if it matters.

Not sure which tab it is on but I think second tab when looking at your phone on iTunes is the sync address book check mark.

    Do you use MobileMe?

You for sure got an odd error and googling the message only gives 3 things. The two apple forum things we posted and this thread.

R all ur contacts already on ur Mac? If so, try this:
-Using iFile or SSH, navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Addressbook

-Copy the addressbook.sqlitedb file to ur computer or somewhere else on ur phone (just in case)

-Then DELETE that file from ur phone.

-Respring and try to Sync again

    Let us know

the sync your contacts option is in the "info" tab in itunes when you select your iphone from the devices list. from there there is a submenu with more options of just how you want to sync the address book.

Your address book is already selected! If you create specific Folders in your address book or outlook (whichever program ur phone exports contacts to) then those folders will show up in iTunes in that big blank box (e.g. Work related contact folder, friend contact folder, etc., etc.)

Sounds kinda weird, but did you try to uncheck Sync Contacts, hit apply and then go back into it and try it again. Sometimes its quirky, I have noticed.
