4.3.1 iPhone 4 lag?
Hey guys,
I had been on 4.1 for a while now, and yesterday, decided I'd take the plunge and go to 4.3.1. I used Pwnage to make upgrade, I installed all of the apps that I had before, but I just see an overall lag on 4.3.1. Using the home button to bring up the lock screen takes more swipes than usual for it to slide and when I bring up apps, the animation lags. I would've thought that 4.3.1 would not only have the new features, but also have the same quickness as 4.1. Any solutions short of having to completely restore? I'm fine doing a normal restore, but wiping my phone clean is my last resort...

Restore it

Get into recovery mode and go to iTunes to restore.

Mine did the same thing, but it has definitely gotten better.
What I did was restored from a backup and put all my jb apps back(well the ones that Are compatible)
Then used iwipe, everything is fine and back to normal. Of course your never going to have the same snappiness when you upgrade, but it shouldnt be that bad for you to notice. Ohh and battery sucks on 4.3.1...

I've been restoring and jailbreaking pretty much for a solid day now because I'm extremely OCD with my phone. In restoring to an absolute fresh 4.3.1 with AT&T, it's not lagging TOO bad, but still not as smooth as it should be for their latest phone. I notice a bit of a lag with the vibrations for a text, and mostly, it's the animation when opening and closing apps. When I used Pwnage for 4.3.1, the lag was unacceptable for me, so I'm going to try RedSn0w. Hopefully that works, or I might just limp back what I had before, 4.1...

Are you restoring from a backup??
That might be the problem, sometimes when I restore from a jb backup it's sort of buggy. So might I add start fresh with a "setup as new phone"??

No worries, all the data comes from me being kind of OCD so when I switch phones, I want everything to be the same, even down to the apps being in the same order.
haha. I have not tried, iWipe, but I did just Google it, and I'm not an iPhone expert by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe deleting all of the saved up garbage might fix the lag. It only gets rid of stuff that is already deleted right? So it wouldn't threaten my precious data? haha

Ha yah no it doesn't delete live data, but it does clear up a lot of data gunk. I did this about 8 days ago and mine was more snappy then before. I guess it's a hit n miss ya knoww.

Lag...
iPhone 4, was on 4.1 with BB 2.10.04. I upgraded to 4.3.1 did the JB and preserved my BB with sn0wbreeze 2.51.
I'm experiencing this same lag, hesitation or jerky appearance when opening apps and swiping screens. I was almost considering doing a complete restore with an official iTunes upgrade to 4.3.1and then use redsn0w to JB (I really don't need the unlock and I may just try this $170 factory unlock anyways..)
Am I now hearing that even people who have 4.3.1 JB with redsn0w or pawnage are also getting these lag symptoms?

Probably like 25 mins, that's what it took me when I did it. I had a lot of crap on mine though, I usually do it overnight cause Im impatient ha. The next morning you should have a popup saying "you are running out of diskspace" hit dismiss and it will be done
I also do a reboot right after. Hope this helps
Do the same as I have suggested and let me know if that works.
Also that unlock is unreliable, although it may work apple can reverse it... Just a heads up, don't want anybody to waste their money.Last edited by mmaboi21; 04-13-2011 at 02:47 PM.

I had the lag on the lockscreen, Would sometimes take 3 attempts to get the slider to move. I went back to 4.2.1 its fine again now
