    Default help with apt-get

trying to use apt-get to fix my sources. i updated my iphone 4 and had to rejailbreak it and i used pkgbackup to restore my old settings. its added the same sources again on cydia and now cydia keeps refreshing and telling me i should use apt-get update to fix the problem.

thing is when i use apt-get update in mobileterminal it tells me Could Not Open Lock File... I just want to get rid of all the duplicate sources and its not letting me when i log into cydia or thru mobileterminal.. please help :-(

Type 'su' without the quotes into mobileterminal and enter your root password (default - alpine). Then try apt-get update.

If you are having problems with multiple sources, try this to re-add original sources, and then re-add you're own sources manually if not via the last step in pkgbackup:

If you don't have iFile, download it from Cydia.

    Open iFile.

    Navigate to /private/etc/apt/sources.list.d

Delete the file "cydia.list" (click EDIT on the top right, select the file, and click the waste basket).

    Navigate to /var/lib/apt/lists

Delete all of the files in this folder except the one called "lock"

    Navigate to /var/lib/apt/lists/partial

Delete all of the files in this folder

    Navigate to /var/lib/cydia

    Delete the file "metadata.plist"

Close iFile and restart Cydia. You should be at the first screen you saw when you first started Cydia: What kind of user are you? Make your selection and Cydia will re-generate the default sources.

Open pkgbackup, select restore, select sources, untick the default sources you just got back in cydia as you don't want multiples.

    Good luck.
