How do you back the tones up if you're ready to update or restore? I could ssh into the phone but the music is always renamed to folders like "F03 so it's impossible to find

I have had this problem so I just make my own now. If anyone wants to know how, it is pretty easy and you only have to do it once.
    1. Select a song in iTunes and right click & select 'get info'
    2. click the options tab and edit the start and stop time so that the song is the 30 second interval that you want the ringtone to be
    3. Click ok and then right click the song again & then click on "create aac version"
    4. Drag the new converted song onto your desktop & rename the extension from .m4a to .m4r
    5. That's it, just drag the song back into iTunes and it will put it in your ringtones folder and you can sync as normal.

It's easier to do it with the apps but This solution keeps them on your computer for whenever you get a new phone, update or restore.
