4.3.1 redsn0w Vibrate problem, thoughts?
Hi there,
If I toggle the vibrate switch to silent mode, the iPhone is supposed to vibrate as we all know.
However, since Jailbreaking, it doesn't always vibrate, and sometimes vibrates when I switch it back to the normal position, when it shouldn't.
I restored the phone to pre-jailbreak and it works fine so its definitely a software related issue.
Has anyone else noticed this? What could be causing it? Everything else works fine.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I noticed the same issue as well.
After you restored to a non-jailbroken state, the vibrate switch works fine right?
Have you tried to jailbreak again with redsn0w to see if the problem comes back?

The same thing was happens to me. If I toggle the mute switch on/off about 5-8 times it fixes itself. But every now and then it will switch again, and I will simple toggle the mute switch a couple of times before it will fix itself again.

I have the EXACT problem. Anyone contact them about this problem? I'm also on 4.3.1 jb with redsn0w.

Same here. Looks like it changes its logic when to vibrate after 3-5 changes.

I have noticed that after a reboot by default the redsn0w iPhone 4 4.3.1 vibrates when going FROM mute TO ring. Also I noticed that after toggling mute on/off multiple times, it will vibrate from ring->mute (the way it's supposed to be), but if I continue to toggle the mute on/off, it will switch back to vibrate from mute->ring (the way it's NOT supposed to be). I can continue to do this over and over again, with every 5 or so toggles it switches when it vibrates.

I'm having the same problem.
In addition, I've heard that iOS 4.3.1 adds a "double vibrate" for text messages. This isn't working for me and I just get the normal single brief vibrate. Is this working for anyone else?

I haven't had a single problem with mine. Perhaps I'm just lucky.
I did completely restore prior to jailbreaking.
Just tested it on another device. No problems here either....
*edit*
I'm curious why some of us are having issues and some are not. Here is my exact details:
iPhone 4 GSM 4.3.1 with redsn0w RC9
I used Mac to jailbreak it (not that it matters, but trying to drill down the problem).
I have a few other mods (sbsettings, fake operator, winterboard).
I have had zero issues with this jail break. I done this on my device as well as a friends. Neither of us are having issues.
Has anyone done the exact thing i did and still having problems?Last edited by iiBuckner; 04-06-2011 at 10:08 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Just did it 13 times. I did notice it was laggy in how quick it vibrated, but it still works for me right now...
Maybe after a full day of switching back and forth i'll notice it. Meetings all day tomorrow so i'll have a chance to test it in real world.
Any other thoughts?Follow me @iiBuckner

I can also confirm this problem.
The problem only occured after I jailbroke my iPhone 4 8GB to 4.3.1 untethered using redsn0w. When I restored it to stock 4.3.1 the problem went away.
To add some detail, every 4 switch cycles (1 cycle = 1 switch to silent + 1 switch to normal), vibration switches from vibration when switch is on silent to vibration when switch is on normal.
Is there any word from the redsn0w devs?
