Photoshop question

I am curious if there is kind of a cookie cutter type tool in photoshop where you can make a shape or something then use that to cut that shape out of another layer with everything it contains, kind of like a special crop, is there such a thing?

You can accomplish this using the select tool. If you make the shape you want on one layer, select the edges, then change layers and copy, you will get the shape of your selection. You can also save selections and reuse them later.
