I have to make a 120 second video about smartphones and their capabilities for my information systems class. what i've thought of is to use Display Recorder to record the screen and have a format kind of like this:
notes app and type and then change to:
smartphones can make calls
smartphones can play videos
smartphones can make payments
(switch to Paypal app)
switch back to notes: smartphones can analyse how you sleep
(switch to Sleep Cycle app)
and so on... I hope you guys understand what I mean. I want to do this for these apps so far, each with a clip preceding it saying "smartphones can...":
Sleep cycle
Weather
Sportacular
TV forecast
News (CNN)
Some nutrition app
Local transit app
budgeting app (Mint?)
heart rate app
buy movie tickets (flixter)
some fitness app
email
sales force app
stocks
document and excel editing (docs to go)
Facetime
Booking and checking Flight (Kayak and FlightTrack)
Google maps
earthquake tracking (quakezones)
iMovie
paypal
ebay
direct voice translating (google translate)
gas milage tracking (gas cubby)
barcode scanning (red laser)
picture editing (PS mobile)
3d picture modeling (Trimensional)
making animations (animation)
graphing calculator (graph calc)
rate my prof
Torrent checking (uremote, jailbroken)
I have no idea how many apps i can fit into 120 seconds, but the idea is to go faster and faster as I go on, showing each app for 2-3 seconds.
Problems and questions:
1) I want my punch line to be the classic "this was shot and edited entirely on an iPhone 4", but Display Recorder does not export to camera roll so I can't use the clips in iMovie. Any suggestions other than convert the clips to mp4 on my computer and some how get them into the camera roll?
2) any better ideas on the format of the video
3) any ideas on a good sound track?
4) any more app ideas? I want the apps to get more and more mind-blowing to the non-smartphone user as the video progresses. (the above list isn't in that order)
I'd recon TomTom or some sort of GPS application would fit nicely! I'm surprised you don't have Shazam in there! Find My iPhone would also be a nice touch!
You can use the PC vs. Mac music? Or possibly the Wii Mii channel music?
What a coincidence... we're both from Montreal!
If I helped you in any way, please click on thebutton!
It's a style of video, to see the typing. I did it on purpose to get the effect. The ending would have sucked without it. It's not like I didn't know how to edit titles in lol
Do u only get 120 seconds? Or is it a presentation & within it, u have to show a video? If u only get 120 seconds, I'd think screenrecorder would kill time. Maybe u should screenshot each app, edit with text & make a collage type video. Especially if ur jailbroken, 120 seconds is too short to cover everything. A collage or slideshow video with 2 second intervals, would allow u to blow there minds with 60 different apps! Just a suggestion, good luck wtvr u choose.
