wifi on ios 4.1 iphone 4

I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong location. Most everything I have looked for in the past I have found an answer for without having to post anything. I have a friend with an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.1 and he is having connectivity issues with his wifi. Every time the phone goes to sleep, he needs to manually connect to his network. We have tried to make him forget the network and reconnect, rebooting, and turning off and on WiFi. I told him to jailbreak, but I tell everyone to jailbreak...Thanks in advance for your time and help!!

sounds like a possible glitch in the files.

Try doing a reset of network settings

IF that doesn't work then try a CLEAN Restore

Or you can search for a package on Cydia called Insomnia, it keeps your iPhone connected to Wifi even when your iPhone is asleep, it could help avoid a restore.

Okay. So I think that we are gonna go restore. Insomnia is why I was suggesting he jailbreak. Thanks for the suggestion. BTW, is there an untethered JB for iOS 4.2? Maybe we'll just try an update first...he does want to JB eventually...
