Newbie - Just a few questions!

First of all, I'm pretty certain this is in the wrong forum, sorry for that.

I just have a few questions regarding theming my device,

1) My phone won't let my change the dock on the springboard. I've tried loads of things, been searching everywhere for it. I've tried using SSH and WinSCP to change the names of this and that, nothing seems to work, I'm constantly stuck with the flat glass.. thing.
Any ideas how to change it?


2) I read the Suave theme isn't fully supported of OS4, so a few things would need to be changed to get rid of the text shadows in the dock. I've gotten rid of the text shadows, however there are shadows behind the icons that I can't get rid of, I was asked to create 4 different transparent .pngs, but these haven't worked, anyone who knows more on this?!


3) Some of the icons I have wont change?! Once again, I've tried everything I know, I've added the icons to the theme and tried changing the name of the file, it worked for some but not for others. For the ones it didn't work for, I tried moving the icon file into the application and renaming it to whatever the current icon file was called (i.e.: icon.png / [email protected])


I should also include I'm using a 3GS, 4.2.1 with GreenPoison RC6.


Honestly anyone who can help me out I'd be extremely grateful for, been struggling with this for the past couple of days and it's really winding me up.

I've been looking for a guide/walkthrough/tutorial on what certain icons should be renamed to, where icons should go, what certain things do etc. but haven't been able to find anything, does anyone know anything?

1) I'm sure it can be changed but how? I couldn't tell you. Google is your friend here. I just make mine transparent.

2) the shadows can be removed. There's a tweak or two in cydia that'll do it for you.

3) As for the icons, you did respring after manually changing them right? I've never personally ran into issues by replacing manually. What icons don't change? When you tell me I'll help you with this as best I can.

Mods can we get this moved to a theme forum please? The op will get more results there.

I'm having a look at the moment for icon shadow removers. There were quite a few icons that didn't change, it's not too big a deal because they're in categories now anyway, but would it be better to change the icon in the actual application folder, or would it be better to put an icon in the theme and rename it to the apps name (i.e. Google.png)
