International SIM for 3GS
Hey everyone. I'm going to be traveling to England later this year and as anyone who has explored AT&T's international roaming plans knows, it gets expensive to keep using your iPhone overseas.
I see lots of ads and sites online advertising global sim cards, but not sure which I can trust. Any recomendations? unlocking the phone won't be a problem.

You can get decent pay as you go sim cards from a few companies in the UK that offer phone text and data. That's what I do everytime I go there. Saves a lot of money.

Suggest either O2 or 3 for pay and go service in the UK. I have UK credit card so never had a problem but have heard from others they may require it. There is a reseller called Lebara that will do it for cash and they are generally at all the London mainline train stations.

I kind of liked Vodaphone the best, although it could just be the area I was in. O2 may have just had less coverage there.

So if I unlock the phone before I leave do you think I can just pick up a SIM at kiosk or something at the airport? This is only the second time I've been over there and the first time was pre-iPhone. I'm only going to be there about 6 days but I can't live without my phone. What does a SIM cost in US $? If it's like $50, maybe I'll just get a data allowance and some global texts.

There are carrier shops everywhere in London. You can just walk into O2 shop and pick up sim which is free, you only pay for the credit you put on it.
Sterling 15 will get you voice and text extra sterling 10 will get you data. Check the web sites for the carriers, so much competition always deals on.

Hi,
I have tried ALL the pre-paid sim cards, in my humble opinion get 'o2' prepaid a £10.00 =$16.00 will give you 500mb data(UK) and 300 (UK) texts and you still have your £10.00 to spend on calls, You can have what they call 'Add-ons', there are many types of 'add-ons' one of which is an 'International plan'
check out O2 | Mobile Phones, Broadband & Sims From The UK's Leading Provider
Enjoy your trip.
