app store problems

HEEEELLLLP ME!

For a few days now i havent been able to download anything from the app store on my iphone (3GS 4.1, J.B'd with limera1n)

I have a load of updates to do but i cant, nor can i download new updates.

When i try i get the message:
Unable to download application
App name will be available for download when you log in to the iTunes store on your computer

I tried this and it dodnt seem to make any difference.

Has anyone else had this problem and please can someone help me fix it!!

well i went ahead with the restore and had some weird things happen

so the first time i restored firmware thru itunes, then restored from a backup, then jailbroke using greenpoison rc6. when i tried to install and open cydia all my original apps were gone (maps, safari, sms, etc...) and so was cydia. made it kinda hard to do anything on my new pda <--haha
anyway i re-restored again and setup as new and everything installed fine. i got a little anxious and started installing all the packages i had before, then noticed an update to 2 apps i had thru the app store. when i tapped update all, it crashed back to safe mode...hmm
so i uninstalled nearly everything and that resolved the problem, no need to restore again (thankfully). now i'm starting the slow process of installing everything one at a time. in between installs i check on the app store by downloading a small free app. if it works, i continue...

anyway, just a few questions for you...do you use 5-row keyboard, or any sms tones? just some theories i'm checking as to the cause...

everything seems to be working now after an update to scrollingboard

any chance anyone else using scrollingboard was having the same problem? i think it had something to do with the sbsettings plugin

I mentioned the same problem in a recent post, myself : I cannot download or update on my iPod (I was able to download apps & updates by signing into iTunes on my Mac, but I feel reluctant to sync my iPod with it until I figure out whar's going on).
I JBed with greenpois0n last week.

I do not have ScrollingBoard, but I do have Infinidock, Infiniboard, & FolderEnhancer. Maybe I should try disabling them one by one, and then seeing if I can download/update.
Have you had any further problems? Or is everything else still fine?

There was an update to scrollingboard yesterday and i havent had any problems since then. i'm still working on adding all packages one by one. i've never used infinidock but i do have folder enhancer.

the crash seemed to only happen when the app store was asking for my password, so i was able to enter the password in safe mode then exit safe mode and download the app/update.

i did restore back to new to fix everything initially but had the problem again. i uninstalled everything and it started working again. now that i added everything again it seems fine. i'm kinda dumbfounded but my best guess was a plugin with scrollingboard that may have been fixed in that update...

Same, I had to restore.

For whoever had issues after restoring, you shouldn't be restoring from back up then if you're running into more problems. You should set up as new.

so it seems a restore is the only solution....bummer.
I have only just recently restored.
And i have very few Cydia packages installed. Just a few tweks, no themes or springboard stuff.
Ill try deleting all the packages i have installed beofre i restore!

Re causes : I don't have modded sms tones or a 5-row keyboard either.

Being new at this, I don't have much at all :

• WinterBoard (obviously), SBSettings, Safari Download Manager, OpenSSH, MobileTerminal, iFile;
• CrashReporter, Gridlock, Barrel, CyDelete, FolderEnhancer, IconRenamer, IconMaker, InfiniBoard, InfiniDock, ShowCase, Lock Calendar, AptBackup, QuickScroll 2, AppFlow, ********** 4, ThemeIt;
• [WinterBoard :] Multi-Colour Transparent Folder Icons, Black Navigation Bars, B&W StatusBar Battery, Transparent Sliders, Transparent StatusBar, Glasklart HD Badges, No Docked Icon Labels.

& that's about it. hmm … Any commonalities jump out at you?
Maybe it does have something to do with SBSettings.

Oh well. I'll try deleting & reinstalling everything, and see what happens. If it works: great! If not, well, restoring sucks, but at least it should fix the problem.

i have uninstalled every package i had installed that were not standard with Cydia, and still no joy.
At my wits end now and considering a restore

Not everybody's a pirate. Mine did that and it was because of an app store app that I was downloading. Lost 3G connection and the download failed. Then i retried to download, and this was a free app too, and it just wouldn't further load and tell me to go to iTunes. Go to iTunes, then it downloaded. But it failed to sync. I restored and it was fine after. But that's just me.

Valiceemo : Uninstalling everything didn't work for me either, so I feel your pain! Oh well --- there are worse things.

i.Annie : thank you for pointing out the necessity of setting up from new, rather than restoring from backup. I wouldn't have thought of this, so you've saved me considerable frustration.

Broomhead : ********** isn't the source of the problem because the issue began before I installed it. Ditto QuickScroll 2 & Barrell. (I C&Ped the list from the running tally I've been keeping in a cloud-synced note-taking app, & didn't think to edit out apps installed since the problem began). I've paid for every app I've ever installed, including most of the free ones via donation. Do you donate to developers?

indeed, not everyone is a 'pirate' but if they are that is there choice, and does not call for childish, petty comments as made above.

I will openly admit i download cracked apps to trial them, as many of the good, and usefull apps are way over priced and many a time have i paid £5+ (GBP) for an app and found it be be a waste of time and money.
If the app is good, ill pay or donate, simple.
I simply do not understand the attitude of this forum towards so called 'pirates' and the actual filtering of such words (the top cracked app source, you all know it) is ridiculous!

I challenge anyone to find an jailbreaker that has not at one time downloaded acracked app.

~When i jailbroke for the first time, not too long ago, i was astounded at the cost of some of the apps on Cydia $10+, many of them way more expensive than Apple.
My impression of the jailbreak community was to help each other out and make better an already great, but flawed, device. I dont want to pay for this, unless it wows me, which alot of cydia stuff doesnt.
It seems that all this forum, and many others is Themes, Themes and more Themes, which do nothing more than slow down the idevice.
Anyways, im ranting and getting of topic.

What you do on your own time with your device is your business. The fact of the matter though is that this site has a strict no warez policy which includes talking about them.
