Can't u just do what it says n plug into iTunes? Tell us what it says from there. $200 I'd buy it if I knew it wasn't stolen.

fUk who cares if it's stolen heard of Jailbreak? I know this is a new day and age but I think people talk about it. xD
It's in and endless reboot idk...havn't gotten it yet from my experience DFU was always the ever so faithful always reliable last resort. I even went to the genius bar to be talked to for 30 seconds and be told here... with my iPhone working properly.
Some people from what ive read are having problems going through DFU mode but it seemed as though they were making things complicated probably because they wanted to rejailbreak. I will probably wait for a new JB if I do decide to eventually jailbreak. There are soo many applications jalibreaking just doesnt seem feesable.

Um heard of a blacklist? Jailbreaks non existent if phones blacklisted with apple. Seen 2 phones personally that were stolen n blacklisted so I know it happens.

Ok if u change boards then it's not that phone ne more it's a new one. The board is one piece there very little that's not on that board. A new logic board=new imei=new phone if I'm not mistaken. Now onto the unlock part that depends on the baseband on the phone it needs to be 1.59 or lower to unlocked a locked phone(us). Now onto your issue there a 99% chance you can fix it with a restore, just plug into iTunes n tell us what is says. We can tell you more once that's done.

Okay IDK about currently but I'm sure if there is not one already out, there is one in the making; of a program to downgrade a bootlaoder. You also would not need to swap a motherboard if you went with an unlocking type of route. They may also have an unlock program in the making for the newer bootloader.
Either way iPhones are yourPhones.

Unlock what? Carrier? You have me lost. The unlock doesn't change the imei of the board or radio whichever hold the imei. It just makes it able to receive service from a different gsm provider. Bootloader? I think you meant baseband but currently it's not possible to downgrade basebands on 3GS or i4. Supposedly the unlock for current basebands is in works but no one but a handful of people really kno the status of current unlocks.

Which has alwaysbeen true. Unlocking the phone carrier sim idfk a god damn unlock is an unlock you bypass going through at&t to activate your phone for use and can connect to their cell towers just as any other iPhone would.

Ok then to activate with itunes u need a att sim or without itunes do a hactivate with a program outside of iTunes (redsn0w). Ultrasn0w is the unlock that'll open carriers tmoble and simple mobile. Let us know what happens when you plug it into iTunes once you get it. I'll help you from there.

He's buying it with the recovery screen showing. So no it's not new. He don't know why it's like that just that it shows connect to iTunes (recovery mode).

The previous owner installed a cydia app that was apparently corrupt and his phone started acting up. The way he describes it it is in an "endless reboot" not uncommon but kind of scary for some.
My previous phones all 3g were quite simply DFU mode and a restore. IDK how the 4 is apparently there are some differences in the 4 not in the previous versions, just trying to be ahead when it gets here Saturday.
So Endless reboot but recovery mode when plugged in which again is different than the previous occurrences I have had with my 3gs.

Restore to 4.2.1 which is current in itunes, but don't know for how long.
Once restored use PWNAGE Tool if you have a Mac or Greenposi0n if you have Windows to jailbreak.
If the person who had it before you has the shsh saved on his computer and will send them to you can use tinyumbrella and jailbreak and not upgrade the baseband.

whats the shsh thats all new to me last time i logged in was probably may last year...
Not really focused on a jailbreak for now although it does have 16gb but if the unlock is not possible through greenposi0n i will think about the wachumacallit.
