I recently upgraded my iphone from 3.1.3 to 4.2.1.....since doing I lost all my contacts. I backed up my contacts via itunes before I upgraded. Heres the problem. Now the iphone won't to itunes because the itunes version won't sync....so, i went to upgrade itunes but can't upgrade because the OS on my macbook is 10.4 and I need 10.5 to upgrade itunes. I can buy the OS upgrade to the macbook but was thinking there was a way to transfer my old contacts via openssh on my PC...Thanks in advance!!!!
Usually if you have SSH'd into your device and pulled out 2 files from your "addressbook" folder then you would just be able to put them back and they would still be there, but I don't believe that you did.
If you backup up your contacts then they should be in your Address Book app on your mac. What you can do is export the contacts into a vCard and then upload then onto your Gmail account, then on your iPhone go on your Gmail and Sync the contacts, and your contacts should be on your phone.
