    Default iPhone 4 wifi issues

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but.... my recently acquired 4 has wifi issues which quite honestly are pissing me off. I can connect to wifi no problem, but after a period, maybe 10 minutes or so but varies, the connection is lost. Wifi still showing connection at the top left (bars), but all apps time out.

I did see a thread on a rather useless apple forum, some others had the same issue, but the other fanboys were in denial.

I tried changing my home wifi settings (Buffalo wzr-hp-300nh), but nothing seems to cure it. Coincidently, a couple of days ago I managed to raise my old 3GS from the dead, thanks to iReb3, and some persistence, and that phone is now working quite happily at home on wifi only, and NEVER drops connection.

    Details:
    iPhone 4, 4.2.1, firmware 03.10.01
iPhone 3GS, 4.0, firmware 05.13.04 (with fresh JB)

Any ideas? If this has been covered somewhere, apologies, if someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
Maybe I'll take it back for replacement soon.... unless there will be a fix with 4.3

Nope, and I don't intend to. I thought about it but this happened from day one of my having 4, when it never happened with my or my wife's 3GS.
    I think it's a 4.2.1 problem, just not sure.
The way I solve it (temporarily) is to run a network check app called iNet, this seems to kickstart the wifi, then everything works ok........ for a while.
Really f@cking annoying considering the cost of these things.
Getting more inclined to take it back, unless there is an easy solution.
    Had it just 6 weeks.

Have my 4 for a week, JB right away no problems with WIFI, use it all the time at home.

It may be a device issue

Try to reset network settings and if it dont work, do a fresh restore to see if it works, you are not going to lose nothing if you make a backup. It doesnt matter if it happened from day one, trying that you can discard if it is a hardware or software problem, you know already that is not your network. But if you do a fresh restore, try to connect to your wifi after you do the fresh restore and test to see if it works before you do a restore from backup, doing a restore from backup can change your settings that you had before and if the problem was with one of your settings, you are going to have that problem again because it restore your settings too.

If it happens without JB, before JB then call Apple care.

Tell them do things over the phone, if you want to take it to an Apple store then you will have to restore without JB

I would because I think you may have a (Heavens forbid ) defective Iphone.

I will give 4.3 a try first (next week?), if that doesn't work then phone is defective. Obviously not JB'd, although my 3GS is

Why would you not call Apple?

I mean what in the heck is software going to do for a hardware issue?

    OMG

Apple could fix it over the phone you think? I highly doubt it.
The reason I am prepared to give 4.3 a shot, is that unlike some I don't like to jump to conclusions. Read the info in my original post, can you guess why I included my router?

Info I have found so far is that others have the same issue, AFTER upgrading to 4.2.1, even some 3G phones. Others have also stated that iPhone 4 (or ios4.2.1) doesn't like b/g or n, or a combination thereof. So it may not just be a hardware issue, but possibly a compatibility issue.
It certainly connects to wifi with no problem, just doesn't last long.
If I try 4.3 and the problem persists, could be hardware.
Then if I get a new phone and it persists, Apple f@cked up with their design.
One thing I'm not prepared to do is make a 4 hour round trip to the nearest Apple store just to waste my time.
