Messed my phone up

The other week I was in Cydia just updating stuff as usual. Updated bitesms, activator and a couple other things. It downloaded the updates and sat there for about an hour trying to update bitesms and wouldn't go so i reset the phone. Long and short it messed it up. I had to set activator to do nothing on shake as whenever the phone was shook it re-springed. Cydia now shows no installed packages or sources and won't show any updates, anything at all basically. And now today i noticed that about every 4th time I get a text while listening to music and the phone is locked it re-springs. Is there anyway to fix this or do i need to dust off tiny umbrella and do a fresh 4.1 restore?

Don't mean to sound rude as I can't quite help right now, I'm just throwing in a little tip for next time. Only ever update one app/tweak at a time then if anything goes Wrong you can pin point to where the problem arose and go back and remove that app/tweak. Sorry I can't help here tho.

SUper big mistake here, you caused the major problem now. Never stop a phone updating like this you can brick it. OK you need to restore and rejailbreak, nothing you do for cydia will work , I had a similar problem and spent days trying to fix, no go just a mess. I stopped cydia updating by hitting cancel did not reboot but learned a hard lesson.

ok thanks. thats what i figured i just hoped there was a way to fix it with out a restore. trouble is finding an hour when my phone isnt ringing /sigh

did 4.1 get ninja changed? downloaded fresh 4.1 and now my phone is a tethered jb. normally just jailbroke with redsn0w and everything was gravy, now redsn0w (rc8) didnt jailbreak my phone. greenpois0n did but now im tethered and i never have been before. i knew something was fishy when i did the first restore and the phone didnt activate. did a dfu restore to 4.1 im on att so no need for unlock

It shouldn't even be tethered on 4.1 for any device. You might consider just updating to 4.2.1 and using greenpois0n.

4.2.1 was way funky when i tried it a couple months ago. springboard kept crashing and all that fun stuff. this was pre greenpois0n, does greenpois0n fix that? plus when i went back to 4.1 from 4.2.1 i lost all my contacts etc. id rather not do that again

On 4.1 you should use limera1n or blacksn0w. Both unteathered. Restore and rejailbreak.

limera1n didnt work for some reason. ill try blacksn0w

just did another clean restore and got limera1n to work. 6 restores later its finally back. thanks all
