    Question sms alerts no sound

No alert sounds whenever I receive a new SMS. I searched all over this forum and I couldn't find anyone who had the same problem or a solution that worked. When I get a new SMS, all that sounds is the nominal "click" sound that is default for things like the keyboard or when you open the BiteSMS quick compose. This started after I installed several sound themes via Cydia. I think something told the iPhone to look elsewhere for tones and now it doesn't know where to look. I've tried the following to correct this:

    - restore from backup
    - reset all settings
    - delete all sound themes or sound controlling apps and reboot. I had downloaded Star Trek and Star Wars sounds yesterday. I also had an app called MyVolume.
    - make sure BiteSMS isn't controlling ringtones. In fact, BiteSMS can't make the right tone, either when I let it control ringtones.
    - install other sound theme to see if it will control things for me again. This worked for a little while and then failed again.

I REALLY DON'T want to restore as new because even when I restore from backup nothing gets put back where it's supposed to on a jailbroken phone. So, any help would be great.

Thank you for replying with that link, but I don't think that will fix my issue. I've looked using iFile to verify the sms tone files and they are all there in the default location. I don't want to change the default sound, just restore it. Do you think that process will work for that as well?

I have the same issue. Did you finally get yours fixed?
