No Cydia..

Hi all.
I decided to upgrade my 3gs to 4.2 the other day but decided to go back to 4.1.
The problem I have is when I have jailbreaked it wont leave a Cydia icon on my phone. I have tried the following firmwares..
3.1.3 40. 4.0.1 4.0.2 4.1 4.2.1
The only firmware that gives me the Cydia icon is 4.2.1 jailbroken with GP.
I want to go back to any 4... but not 4.2.1

Any ideas
