Ive got a iphone 3gs on 3.1.3 & thinking on upgrading to the latest OS when using umbrella does it upgrade your phone but leave all the apps or is it just like starting from scratch..?

All SHSH saved from 3.1.3 to 4.21 Oh hey is this 4.3b3 jailbreakable..?

Anything jailbreak related will get erased. You dont need tiny umbrella's help to update to 4.2.1 either.

No I realize I dont "need" umbrella but heard it'll reserve the BB for unlocking not that I really need it unlocked it an official carrier phone..

That baseband preservation thing only works on iPhone 4 with tiny umbrella. To preserve baseband on a 3GS you need to use either pwnage tool 4.2 or snowbreeze 2.2 to make a custom firmware.

K well I dont get it I created the new file with sn0wbreeze 2.2 started iTunes went to shift restore & get error 21 & 1600 unable to update tried a couple times then my phone got a popup box saying invalid sim..

Then gets stuck in recovery but able to boot out with umbrella

Seeing as how I "dont need" the unlock should I just restore with iTunes then JB..

I wouldnt mind keeping the ability to unlock it tho..

Use redsnow 0.9.6rc8. Point it to a regular 4.2.1 firmware. Choose the option to enter pwned dfu. Then try restoring to the custom one again.

Short & sweet I keep getting invalid sim on 4.2.1 I aint pulling it in & out every time that happens to get signal back..looks like Im going back to 3.1.3 yet again...Grrrr

Trying something else if I create a custom IPSW with sn0wbreeze to just preserve baseband load that to my phone could I not JB with GP..?

K well 4.2.1 doesnt like my 3gs anyone with a 3gs what is your favorite IOS..I have all SHSH saved from 3.1.3 & up..

Im tempted to just say fk it & do a 4.2.1 install thru itunes & lose my unlock I dont think my phone likes custom ios's..

I swear to god whoever invented cell phones should be punched in the fkn mouth..

I updated to 4.2.1 thru itunes cause I dont need a unlock & now I get a error when I plug the phone into the pc that iTunes cannot connect to the phone unknown error..Tiny Umbrella doesnt even say its connected..

Why is this phone being such a dink..

The worst part is nothing detects it so now Im stuck on 4.2.1 cant jailbreak or anything...Even in DFU mode..
I read it could be a power issue so swapped USB ports & tried a new cable..still nothin

Think this is a crappy way for apple to keep us from jb'ing..?
