Question Trying to keep iTunes from killing my icon layout on a JB iPhone

I just upgraded my firmware to 4.2.1 with GP. Wanted to start fresh with a clean restore and set up as a new phone (which I think so far has been worth the meticulous backing up of documents and remembering some settings that I did beforehand).

Anyways, I started with all of my Cydia tweaks first, before I added my AppStore apps from iTunes.

Yes, I have a couple things going on that mess with icon layout.
    -Five Icon Dock
    -SBRotator for 4.x
(I'm not using anything like Infinifolder)

I can't seem to find anything that let's you backup icon layouts on Cydia, maybe backboard but I don't like the battery killer known as WinterBoard that much and Iconoclasm is incompatible with 4.2.1.

My concern is that iTunes isn't even recognizing that I have a Utilities folder on my first page, a default iPhone layout with Clock, Calculator, Compass and Voice Memo. I only have 3 pages total on my phone, but iTunes sees it as 16 pages worth of Apps (which makes 5 pages invisible). I want to install more apps that I've downloaded from iTunes (on my Mac) but I'm afraid to hit that Apply button which shows up every time I'm on that screen or check off an app to install. I really don't want to spend another hour reorganizing icons. How can I save my icon layout on 4.2.1 (with ability to restore it) and install apps from iTunes without killing my preferred iPhone icon layout?

Thanks for any help and ideas.

Try emailing the dev of five icon dock or sbrotator and see if they are aware of the problem (go Cydia>FiveIconDock>Author) see screenshot
P.S the dev of FiveIconDock is Saurik, he's a busy man so don't expect an instant reply

    Default Here's what I did

I found this out by googling something about itunes not remembering icon layout from backups.

First, I restored my iPhone (one of my apple apps was corrupted and kept crashing though it hadn't done that before, anyway, that's besides the point...) and then synced it with iTunes. My icon layout was alllllll messed up. NOTHING was where it was prior to the restore.

The page I googled stated to do this: Restore, sync in iTunes, your icons will get messed up, THEN right click on your device shown on the left hand column in iTunes, and then select "restore from backup" and choose which backup had the correct icon layout. It will restore the icon layout but only faster than the original restore (since all your other settings have already been restored and all apps had already been installed during the first restore.)

Since you had 5 icon dock, install 5 icon dock BEFORE you do this. iTunes remembers all jailbreak settings (you don't really need aptbackup or pkgbackup or whatever they're called) so once you install 5 icon dock, and do the directions I stated, your icons should all go back to how they were.

This worked for me. I had the PERFECT icon layout and now I have it again. Now I just need to install all my jailbreak stuff. Hope this helps.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but I'm sure it can be helpful.
