Is there a way to take my old 2g iPhone and use it as an iPod? I want to give it to one of my daughters so she can use it without the added expense of actually activating it as a phone or dropping another two to three bills on an iPod touch.

There isn't a sim in it. And right now it is like a brand new phone that says connect to iTunes. I haven't used this phone in almost two years.

yup. put in a valid sim, plug into Tunes. let it activate, remove the sim, give to daughter.

if she has to update firmware, just repeat the above steps.

oh also turn on airplane mode to save power, but leave the wifi on.

If your old phone is jailbroken and has SBSettings, you use SBSettings to hide the phone icon, or any other icons.
