Can't upgrade to 4.2.1 from 4.1
Everytime I try and upgrade I keep getting an error 1013 then I get stuck in recovery mode and have to use tiny umbrella to kick me out of it, and even thats not always kicking me out of recovery mode. I'm trying to upgrade so I can jailbreak via Green Pois0n. I'm on an iPhone 4. Can anyone help?

Are u trying to preserve your baseband? Otherwise use iTunes to upgrade...

redsnow cannot update firmware, only itunes can. After updating in itunes and getting that 1013 error run greenpoison rc5-2
Are you on official carrier?

If you are on ATT then do this: Open tiny umbrella, click advanced, deselect the box that says set hosts to cydia on exit. Apply the change then close tiny umbrella, then try restoring to 4.2.1 again.

try keep the iTunes open and doing the "exit recovery" in TinyUmbrella. Once you kick it off recovery mode then go back to iTunes and wait till you see your phone connected then press SHIFT key + left Mouse click on RESTORE. Then look for the FW you downloaded. (WINDOWS VERSION) If you saved your SHSH through TinyUmbrella that means you will get the 1013 error but it's ok, that means that your baseband didn't get updated that is what the error is for. If your phone reboots properly that means you're updated.

^ He is on ATT, he doesnt need to preserve baseband. Just do as I said and you will be able to restore to 4.2.1 successfully without getting an error. Then you can use greenpoison.

Yes it will update the baseband. Baseband has no bearing on jailbreaking though, just unlocking.

^^ This. No one else can benefit from the help you get by PM. If you have your problems fixed in public forum, everyone wins.
