Your iPhone hardware is covered under factory warranty for one year from the time you purchased it. USE IT. By all means, take it straight to the apple store and get it fixed/replaced (as long as it's not due to physical damage). Intermittent hardware issues are common on newly designed devices, so they will not approach you with a surprised look on their faces. Besides, it's too expensive to compromise with minor damage early on in your purchase.

just so everyone knows, this power button thing is a big deal (first, may i ask if you were using an otterbox on the phone?) this happened to me a couple months ago and i went about it the entirely wrong way by fixing it myself.. could have saved alot of hassle having apple do it, plus i voided my warranty, also it happened to mine while in an otterbox, and since then two of my friends have also had the problem and they were both using otterboxes as well (they both got theirs replaced by apple) so i think its a pretty big problem, although it happened on different levels to all of use, like mine stopped working completely, one of my friends just wouldnt work sometimes but it was often and the other one would only not work for short time periods.. so yea... just sayinnn

I dont know what otterbox is...
One last question: They gave me a new phone without even checking what carrier I had on my old one, and I know you can only but unlocked iPhones at the apple store. So is my new one an unlocked one? And how could I find out without putting in another carriers SIM?Name? whereswaldo

Sometimes iTunes says you are unlocked after activating. Or just try another sim.

an otterbox is a case, (a very expensive case that saves your phone from drops and stuff) if you dont know what it is you probaby dont use one cause it would say it on the backk hahaa
