Question Any way to jailbreak untethered iPhone 4 on 4.2.1

Hi, so I've read several elaborate guides on how to jailbreak the iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 using beta versions of iOS and redsn0w. Unfortunately all of these guides are a few months old and there are newer versions of redsn0w out. I have a brand new iPhone 4 running 4.2.1 out of the box. Thus I have no blobs are what not. I want to know if there is any untethered jailbreak method for my iPhone which will A) not disable any major features, and B) be able to be restored back to normal iOS. Thanks in advance!

So you know that this is a beta testing version of Redsn0w, so stay away if you care for unlock or have lots of data on your device without a backup.
I haven't read to many good things about it. But go for it and post up the results if you like.

Any way to not make useless comment? I did search and look at the newest threads in several sections to no avail.

As for unlock, I would like to but I have the newest baseband (out of the box) anyways so I have nothing to lose. I'm kind of afraid to do it on my own as I haven't been jailbroken for over a year now. There were some people commenting on the frontpage articles that they did it, but they never really elaborated. I'm hoping this thread might catch someones attention.

the redsn0w beta does the job, you need a mac and i believe there are problems with bluetooth or wifi or gps, cant remember
if you have backed up any important data on your phone then i suggest giving it a go! the worst that can happen is something will go wrong and you can just restore

ok, just one more thing that is unclear to me. What is iOS 4.2b3? and how do i get it. Do i need a developer account or something, or has the chance to get it passed.

I did it in that way, used the last redsnow and I had issues with Skype, they said that it was fixed in the last version of redsnow but it didnt work for me, then I went back to 4.1. I think is better if you wait a little bit.

see, but i'm 4.2.1 out of the box. Staying at a lower version is not an option for me (or is it, thought you need a shhblob to downgrade?)

yeh as far as im aware you cant downgrade (someone correct me if im wrong) fresh out the box 4.2 without tethered. also i geuss your fairly new to jailbreaking? if so, i would stay away from betas such as 4.2b3, itll cause you nothing but hassle

I'm been in the jailbreak game since iOS 1.2, but I did not have an iPhone between the june 2010 and jan 2011. Now i'm pretty lost (the whole "scene" moves really fast), and i feel left out

But, can some one explain how 4.2b3 works? Can you still get it (i know 4.3b3 is out today so are the others lockeddown?). Can the beta cause permanent "damage" to the phone?

You need 4.2b3 shsh for the redsnow beta untethered jailbreak to work. There is no way to get them now though as apple has stopped signing that firmware.
