How to recover Contacts from iPhone that is stuck on Apple Logo?
I have a iPhone 3GS that was jailbroken/unlocked using Blackra1n and then I started having issues with WiFi connection and read that it can be fixed by reseting network connections. I did that (bad mistake) after which the iPhone just stuck on Apple logo now.
I have read threads on recovering from this, but before I try recovering and wiping everything from the iPhone I desperately need to extract my contacts from the iPhone. I tried to extract the contacts from iTunes back up using the tool iBackupBot (great tool by the way) but my last back up is corrupt/incomplete. An older back up doesn't have all the info I need.
So is there a way to extract the contacts from the iPhone itself knowing that its still stuck on the Apple Logo? If I manage to put the iPhone in DFU mode, is there a way to use WinSCP/SSH (not sure how these work) to extract the files to PC and then use tool to extract the data I need?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello.

And i tried to restore again to 4.2.1 or 4.1 at least and i was getting some error 1600 1015 3194 and now i am getting 29 and 28 when itunes tries to restore it the white screen appears but doesnt continue and then i pop the error 28/29.
Does any know what to do to get it fxed?

See post 52 here: RESOLUTION: Blacksn0w Reboot Loop / No WiFi Signal / Reset Network Settings / Unlock
It is a modified redsnow that will delete blacksnow for you so that you can boot the phone and back it up. You will still need to restore after. Download a 3.1.2 firmware to point redsnow to. You dont have to pick any options in redsnow, just run it and go through the dfu process.
Your issue is completely different. You need to let the battery drain completely then try restoring again.Last edited by Simon; 01-27-2011 at 09:13 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

You'll be able to boot the phone like normal so that you can back them up to your computer with itunes. Then you can restore.

I would move this folder somewhere else before doing your backup, so iTunes takes a complete new backup and not a sequential or differential backup.
Windows Vista and 7:
(paste in explorer and hit enter)
%AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
You can also choose to sync your contacts with iTunes, I recommend google contacts, because if you had them synced with google or another provider you wouldn't be in this situation. I wouldn't recommend doing google sync with exchange because it's limited on contact fields, instead choose the sync contacts with computer option in iTunes.Last edited by sevenalive; 01-27-2011 at 11:32 AM.

What can I do if I do not have a jailbroken iPhone? It's a 3GS 4.? fw. My iPhone froze and I reset it and then it went to the connect to iTunes restoration needed screen/prompt. Is there anyway to pull my contacts and anything else off the phone before I restore it? Most of all I need my contacts!
Thank you in advance,
S

I do not have a recent backup. And I reset the phone by holding the power button and home button at the same time.

Plug the phone in and press exit recovery with tiny umbrella

Plug the phone into the computer and recovery by pressing eject? I'm not sure what tiny umbrella is. I'm sorry I wouldn't think I'm a complete noob but I definitely don't know this term. When I plug the iPhone into the computer it tells me it can't access the phone because it's locked. But since the recovery screen is up there's no method of unlocking the phone with my pass code because all that shows up when sliding the bar over is the ability to make an emergency call. And then phone has a message on it now saying to connect to iTunes and recover at whatever suppot URL it says. Also if I press the i or I fo button it says the IMEI is UNKOWN andso is the serial numer. Sorry that this is becoming difficult.

Ok, you aren't in recovery then. You are on the emergency call screen. Big difference. You need to activate the phone.

No the phone is activated. I have used this phone for roughly 8 months now. And it is saying: "Restore Needed" iPhone cannot make or receive calls. Restore from iTunes. Apple - Support. But like I said when I connect it to iTunes it says that it can't access the phone because of my keypad lock. But when I try to slide the bar over like usual to type in my passkey it only shows me the make an emergency call keypad. Which I find odd and also odd that my phone just crashed out of nowhere.
